Welcome to the
Colorado State Air Force Association
An Independent Non-Profit Aerospace
Organization
WHO:
The Colorado State AFA is an independent,
non-profit aerospace organization which currently boasts over 8000 members. They
come from both military and civilian ranks - on active duty and retired, also
from businesses, schools and the public at large. What they all share is a deep
concern and commitment to our Nation and the part aerospace plays in it. While
the Colorado State organization is closely tied to the other Rocky Mountain states known as the
Rocky Mountain Region (Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming), it is also broadly linked to every other state and
chapter, nationwide - 170,000 members strong.
WHAT:
The Colorado State AFA organization provides the
means to keep its chapters and members informed of issues involving national aerospace initiatives,
needs and concerns; including policies, issues, hardware, quality of life and
benefits. The Colorado State AFA organization takes pride in organizing and facilitating
a variety of community support programs including awards and recognition
programs for Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, and Civilian personnel.
At all levels, the AFA is committed to young
people and their education, supporting the Aerospace Education Foundation and
making the elementary and grade school level Visions Program, available to all
school systems. The AFA as well, provides scholarships for colleges and "Space
Camps": supports local ROTC units and sponsors Civil Air Patrol cadet programs
and orientation flights. The AFA also offers a Community Partners program for
businesses and industries who wish to involve themselves with our nation's
aerospace future.
AFA support and participation is made at
fairs, drives, veteran and special events, meetings and conventions.
WHERE:
The Colorado AFA is part of the Rocky
Mountain Region, AFA. At present, Colorado State's 5 Chapters are active in both the
state's highest population and most rural areas. Continued association
growth, participation and commitment will continue to be major and ongoing
goals, until full statewide representation has been achieved.
The main body of the Colorado AFA is the
Executive Board, which is made up of the State Officers and all Chapter
Presidents. The Executive Board meets at least once each quarter. The meetings
are held in the areas of local chapters on a rotating basis.
